National Engineer Week Kicks Off

Ivaldi is very excited to be part of Engineers Week in 2021 and with this initiative to become part of shaping the future engineering workforce.

The Engineers Week will take place from 21-27, 2021. The idea behind this event is to increase the interest in engineering and technology careers by showcasing the importance of the work they do and how society is indebted to engineers for improving the quality of life. Each year, EWeek reaches thousands of schools, businesses, and community groups across the U.S.

As part of Eweek, Ivaldi’s intern, Mary Celestin, will deliver an introductory lesson to CAD for students in Late Middle School/Early High School. The lesson will include the basics of on-demand manufacturing, guidance on using CAD software, and encouraging students to build their own project.

To allow everyone interested in this lesson to understand better how they will benefit, we suggest looking at the lesson plan and the beginner’s guide to on-demand manufacturing that was carefully designed for this class’s needs.

Other exciting activities during Eweek are:

  • Chats With Change Makers hosted by Tiffany, a 10th grader from Austin, Texas, and a Future City alum. She’ll be chatting on the 3rd Friday of every month with different engineers and technicians. Find videos on demand here
  • DiscoverE: The DiscoverE section’s information helps people who work with students plan activities for Engineers Week to continue their partnership with local schools throughout the year
  • Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (Girl Day-25 February) helps focus a growing movement to inspire girls’ futures, so they learn they have a place in engineering a better world
  • The DiscoverE Persist Series (10 February and every second Wednesday of the month) is a worldwide speaker series building staying power for women in engineering and tech
  • The celebration of World Engineering Day– 4 March is also about promoting engineering as a career and how it can change the world for the better
  • Future City asks middle-school students to imagine, design, and build cities of the future. After four months of designing a virtual city (using SimCity), researching, designing, and writing up their solution to a city-wide issue, and building a scale model of their city, teams will present their vision to a panel of judges
